What’s different about AC repair in New Port Richey
New Port Richey's housing was built mostly in the 1970s and 1980s. About 27% of homes date from the 1970s and 31% from the 1980s. By now, many have replaced their original systems at least once but still use the original ductwork. Older duct runs leak, and return air is often undersized, so repair calls here often involve airflow, frozen coils and water at the air handler. If your system still runs on R-22, big refrigerant repairs are costly, because new R-22 is no longer produced or imported.

2How much does AC repair cost in New Port Richey?
Pricing is confirmed after diagnosis and a written scope; equipment, access, parts, and installation requirements can affect the total.
3How quickly can you get to my New Port Richey home for AC repair?
Hales AC provides 24/7 scheduling for urgent HVAC requests in New Port Richey and confirms the earliest available appointment when you call or book online.
4Should I repair or replace my AC system?
Generally, if your AC is over 10-12 years old and the repair costs more than 50% of a new system, replacement may be more cost-effective. Our technicians will give you an honest recommendation based on your system’s age, condition, and repair history.
5Do you offer warranties on AC repairs in New Port Richey?
Warranty coverage depends on the installed part and written repair terms; applicable coverage is explained before work is approved. We also offer our Comfort Club membership for New Port Richey homeowners, which includes priority scheduling, discounts on repairs, and one or two tune-ups depending on the selected plan and current written terms.
6What brands of AC systems do you repair?
Hales AC confirms repair compatibility for equipment such as Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Daikin, American Standard, York, and more. Our team confirms equipment and service compatibility when you book in New Port Richey.
7Does a New Port Richey mailing address mean City permits?
Not always. City land sits almost entirely in ZIPs 34652 and 34653. ZIPs 34654 and 34655 contain none of it. Inside city limits, the City Building Division issues AC permits. Unincorporated addresses, including Jasmine Estates and Trinity, go through Pasco County. Your property tax bill shows which applies.
8My home flooded in Helene. Does my new AC have to be raised?
It may. The Florida Building Code requires replacement exterior equipment damaged by flood to meet the elevation rules. If the City finds your home substantially damaged or improved, heating and cooling equipment must go at or above the 100-year flood level. The City's threshold is 50% of the structure's market value.
9Which electric company serves New Port Richey, and are there rebates?
Duke Energy is the main utility in southwest Pasco, but check your bill, because the Duke and WREC service line runs through unincorporated New Port Richey ZIPs. Duke's Home Energy Improvement rebates require a Home Energy Check first, so confirm the current terms with Duke. We found no WREC HVAC rebate.
10Which New Port Richey ZIP codes does Hales AC cover for AC repair?
Hales AC schedules AC repair for New Port Richey homes in ZIP codes 34652 and 34653. Many New Port Richey mailing addresses are actually in unincorporated Pasco County, including all of ZIPs 34654 and 34655. The ZIP lookup confirms a specific address when you book.
11Which New Port Richey neighborhoods does Hales AC serve for AC repair?
Hales AC’s New Port Richey service area includes Downtown New Port Richey, Jasmine Estates, Gulf Harbors, Beacon Square, Seven Springs and Cotee River corridor. Local reference points are Sims Park, Richey Suncoast Theatre, James E. Grey Preserve, Green Key Beach and Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.
12How far is New Port Richey from the Hales AC office?
The city is about 33 road miles from the Hales AC office at 4700 95th St N. Hales AC works from that one St. Petersburg location, and appointment timing is confirmed when you book.
13What is New Port Richey’s housing stock like, and why does it matter for AC repair?
Census estimates put the median build year at 1980. About 51% of homes were built before 1980, and only about 10% in 2000 or later. About 15% are mobile homes, and about 30% of residents are 65 or older. A technician checks the equipment your home actually has before recommending a repair.

AC repair in New Port Richey: what we see
Repair calls in New Port Richey skew older-system: the block homes of Jasmine Estates and the cottages near Sims Park carry more original and second-generation equipment than the newer suburbs east of us, so we see failed condenser fan motors, seized contactors, and refrigerant restrictions on lines that have been sweating for twenty summers. Many homes here also run window-unit backup — a sign the central system has been limping. Our first visit often becomes triage: fix today's failure, document the system's honest condition, and give a straight answer on how many seasons are left.
New Port Richey questions we hear
My older New Port Richey system uses R-22 — can it still be repaired?
Mechanically yes, economically it depends. R-22 refrigerant is no longer produced and reclaimed supply is expensive, so a leak repair plus recharge can approach half the cost of a modern replacement. For sealed-system repairs on R-22 units we quote both paths so the decision is yours with real numbers.
How fast can you reach a no-cool call in New Port Richey?
Pick an arrival window that works for you. We run Pasco routes daily across 34652-34655 out of the US 19 corridor. Mornings book first; for elderly residents without cooling we prioritize dispatch, so say so when you call.
Why does my AC trip the breaker in my Jasmine Estates home?
On homes of this era it is often the pairing of a tired compressor drawing high start-up current with an original electrical panel. We test the compressor windings and the breaker both — replacing a breaker that was doing its job masks a compressor problem, and we would rather find that out in October than July.
